Busway works progress

Works on separation fencing – putting in a fence between the Busway track and the path that runs alongside – continues to be installed between Pagram Way and Histon and between Trumpington Park & Ride and Hobson’s Avenue.

We have sourced additional workers and are making good progress on the fence installation. We now expect works in the southern section to be completed by the end of May rather than August 2026. As a result, we have updated the timings on our map which can be found on the Busway webpage.

Please note that the path alongside the Busway is also closed in the southern section. A signed diversion route is in place.

A range of additional signage has been added to the Busway route in past weeks encouraging all those using the route to be aware of their surroundings and share the route with care.

Whilst work is taking place, we’d like to remind people they must not trespass on the Busway, and they must keep to the path or formal crossing points for their own safety.

If you spot a safety issue when using the Busway, please get in touch by scanning the QR codes along the Busway or reporting any concerns on our website.

Survey on Histon crossing launched

We would like to get your feedback on the preferred location for a new formal crossing point in the Histon and Impington area.

We have had over 300 people respond to the survey which launched on Thursday 16 January but would like to encourage all those who regularly use the busway in this area – particularly local Histon and Impington residents – to let us know their preference. Feedback will be used to inform decision making on the new crossing location.

We have funding for up to four new crossings along the Busway and are aware that there are several communities that would like to have formal crossings put in place following the closure of informal routes. We plan to engage across these communities as our safety works continue this year.

The survey is open through to 23.59 on Thursday 5 February 2026.

Busway path flooded - keep off the track

We recently closed a section of the busway path between St Ives Park & Ride and Holywell due to flooding following recent wet weather. The path has now reopened.

We let people know about the closure via our social media accounts and plan to continue to highlight the closures this way, as we encourage people to plan their journeys and keep off the track.

During closures the gates are closed at either end of the flooded section at Second Drive, just after leaving St Ives Park & Ride to Holywell (Fen Drayton). Signs are also put in place to advise of the closure.

Buses continue to use the Busway when the maintenance track is flooded, so for your own safety, please do not try to walk or cycle on the Busway. Alternative routes are available; check and plan your journey before setting out.
