Works progress update

Northern section

Work continues on the section of the Busway between Cambridge Regional College to Milton Road. Following this, work will move over to the Milton Road to Cambridge North section.

As some people have noticed the fencing between the Regional College and Milton Road is of a different design. The type of fencing used in different locations is determined by safety assessments. We anticipate using this type of fencing to separate the Busway and the path along the rest of the Busway.

Southern section

Works have now been completed on the southern section of the Busway between Trumpington Park & Ride, the Biomedical Campus and Cambridge Station.

The remaining bespoke panels were installed in late July. Temporary signals have been removed from the Addenbrookes access road. The Busway and path are now fully reopened.

We would like to thank everyone for their patience whilst these essential safety works were carried out.

Busway closure

Histon section, 10 August 2026, 9.30am to 3.30pm

Vegetation cut back works are due to take place between the Histon and Impington St Ives-bound stop and Park Lane crossroads in Histon.

To ensure a safe working area for our contractors to carry out the work, this section of the Busway will be closed in both directions outside of peak times from 9.30am and 3.30pm, or earlier if the works are completed ahead of schedule.

A diversion will be in place through Histon. A temporary bus stop for those travelling towards St Ives can be found on Station Road opposite the Railway Vue pub. For those travelling towards Cambridge, buses will use the existing temporary bus stop on Cambridge Road, outside Anglia Fireplaces.

Report anti-social behaviour on the Busway

We continue to work with the police on this important issue and are aware of various types of anti-social behaviour along the maintenance path, as well as across villages near the Busway.

We encourage members of the public to report any unsafe, anti-social and illegal behaviour on the Busway to the county council or the police, as appropriate. Safety concerns can be reported via our web form. Alternatively, you can scan the QR code on signs along the Busway track to find the form when using the path.

All private e-scooters are illegal to use on UK roads and are also not allowed on the Busway path. Only Voi trial e-scooters, which are limited to 15mph, are permitted.

When making any reports, please ensure you share the date, location and time. We are continuing to work with the police to tackle anti-social behaviour across the wider Busway area.

Our next newsletter will be published the week commencing 24 August 2026.
