Busway works progress

The installation of separation fencing continues to progress well on the southern section of the Busway, at the Trumpington Spur and from Pagram Way to Histon.

We expect to complete the Trumpington Spur fencing and reopen this section at the end of February. The work from Pagram Way to Histon will be finished by the end of March.

With the progress on the southern section of the Busway fencing, we expect to start works on the Addenbrookes Spur at the beginning of March and be completed around the beginning of May 2026.

We are currently finalising the planned diversions for this section of the route. The maintenance track, the path alongside the busway, will be closed to cyclists and pedestrians during the work and a signed diversion will be in place.

Further details will be shared ahead of the start of the works.

We apologise for the inconvenience and urge those travelling to Addenbrookes and the Cambridge Biomedical Campus to plan their journeys in advance.

Busway crossing survey closes

We had a great response to the first of our engagement surveys with local communities, which closed last week and received over 800 responses from Histon and Impington residents and Busway path users. We’d like to thank everyone who took the time to complete the short survey.

This survey was scheduled to ensure crossing works could be completed alongside separation fencing works north of the Histon and Impington stop, which are due to take place this summer. We will be analysing the results over the next few weeks before sharing the feedback with decision makers and the public.

We are also looking at other areas along the Busway where we may need to introduce a new crossing or improve existing crossings. We’ll share more details on the wider plans and how you can share your thoughts with us.

Additional Busway signage

A variety of additional signage has been added to the Busway over past months, including speed limit markings on the path.

If you’re a regular Busway user, we ask that you take the time to read the signs and understand the changes being made for everyone’s safety.

There is a QR code on signs to make it simple and easy to report any incidents directly to the Busway Health and Safety team.

Busway path flooding

We will now be alerting Busway users to flooding closures and path reopenings via our social media channels. Please follow us on Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn. We also encourage you to share these notices into your local community groups and pages.

During closures the gates are closed at either end of the flooded section at Second Drive, just after leaving St Ives Park & Ride to Holywell (Fen Drayton). Signs are also put in place to advise of the closure.

Buses continue to use the Busway when the maintenance track is flooded, so for your own safety, please do not try to walk or cycle on the Busway. Alternative routes are available; check and plan your journey before setting out.
