Prejudice related incident reporting for school run early years provision

Early Years provision operated by schools should report any Prejudice Related Incidents by submitting a Prejudice Related Incident Data Evaluation form commonly referred to as a PRIDE form to: Earlyyears.service@cambridgeshire.gov.uk  F.A.O Sarah Storey Ref: PRIDE form.

The setting Equalities Named Co-ordinator (ENCo) will usually be the person to complete the process and will have had the required training to do so. If they are unsure how to complete or submit the form, please contact sarah.storey@cambridgeshire.gov.uk.

Early years entries on to the school recording system will cause the PRIDE data to be incorrect if are not on the school roll.

The Early Years and School Readiness service will review the content of reported matters and may contact settings to offer further advise, guidance or training opportunities as determined by the context of the information we receive.  Additionally, the data submitted is used to support the development of our EDI training offer and to regularly upskill ENCo practice.

We recommend that all Early Years provision identifies a member of staff to fulfil the ENCo role and attend the relevant training which can be found at:

Celebrating a fabulous summer of reading!

Summer Reading Challenge Story Garden

Over 6900 children took part in this year’s Library Summer Reading Challenge, Story Garden. We are looking forward to welcoming many of them to their local library during September to receive their finisher’s certificate and medal at a special Award Ceremony.

We’re delighted to report that many children read more than six books over the holidays. So, if you could celebrate your children’s achievement in school, and remind them their library is there for them all year round, that would be brilliant.

Thank you.

Risk warning notice - `salt and ice challenge' social media craze

Please share the following alert with parents and carers

A dangerous online trend is resurfacing where children put salt on their skin and press ice on top. This causes serious cold burns (like frostbite). Injuries can require hospital treatment and even skin grafts, and children may not realise the damage until it’s too late.

First aid: Cool with lukewarm running water for 10+ minutes, cover with clean cling film and seek medical help.

Do not use ice, creams, or fluffy dressings.

More detailed advice can be found here: Salt and ice challenge briefing note
