Dear colleague
I wrote to you recently to share that over recent months, ASCL has reflected deeply on its values: integrity, expertise, kindness, courage and community. You'll see these brought to life through our content, facilitation and support. After the first session of our Trust Leaders: Executive Programme, one delegate commented on the "the wealth of knowledge and experience shared by both the facilitators and delegates" and the chance to reflect "in a safe and supportive environment, without feeling pressured to respond". That's expertise, kindness and community in action.
World Values Day takes place on 15 October, with events all month. It's a great opportunity to explore values with students, staff and communities. Free resources, including a Schools' Flyer and Values-thon can be found here.
Values sit at the heart of safeguarding. Many of you have spent recent weeks discussing safeguarding in your context, work that demands real expertise and courage. Our Advanced Safeguarding Leadership Programme (Cohort 2) is designed for experienced DSLs and recognises exactly that. Led by Margaret Mulholland, Victoria Raynor and Kate Gaunt, it explores contextual safeguarding, co-production with families and communities, distributed leadership and supporting vulnerable students, alongside one-to-one coaching. It takes your expertise further, turning strong practice into strategic, whole-school safeguarding leadership.
Please do visit our events page to consider other essential PD.
Best
wishes
